Anthony's Key Resort 2006 Trip Preview
Roatan, Honduras

The photos below are just a select few from the many that I shot over the course of 17 dives off
the coast of Roatan, in the Bay Islands of Honduras.  This was my 5th return to Anthony's Key
Resort and while the number of guests were relatively few during the week of 9-16 September,
and sightings of larger ocean life seemed fewer than usual, the trip was nonetheless very
enjoyable.  As usual, the dive operations and accommodations at AKR were excellent albeit
pricier than years past.  Notable among our various dive outings was a school (pod?) of pilot
whales, perhaps as many as 40, that we encountered during our return from diving the wreck
Odyssey on the north side of Roatan, perhaps 1 mile out from Bailey's Key.  A very unique
observation I made, but captured no good photos of, was that of a snake eel spinning about the
axis of its body.  Upon moving in to photograph the eel, I saw an octopus tentacle extend out
and around the body of the eel, which was obviously trying to escape this ultimately lethal grip.

As time permits, I will select from my photos those which I feel are my best, and present them
in a gallery accessed from the home page of this website.  Until that is completed, additional
photos may be found in their unedited form via the two buttons below.
