XIANG GONG QI GONG
(Fragrance Chi Kung)

  1. Commencing Movement: Stand with feet shoulder width apart. Place hands in front of chest with palms facing each other about one fist distance apart. Spread palms out to shoulder width distance and back 10 times.

  2. Golden Dragon Wags Tail: Palms together in front of chest to form a "prayer" palm with fingers pointing to front. Move palms first to left and then to right at chest level. Just arms, not upper body, waist, or hips. Do 36-54 repetitions. Note: Except for #1, #4, #16, and #17 all movements are done 36-54 times.

  3. Jade Phoenix Nods Head: Prayer palms at center of chest with fingers pointing up. Move palms down in an arc to point at floor. Elbows are hinge. Head nods slightly when hands point down.

  4. Incense Floating in the Wind: Open and close palms five times. Then bring palms up to neck level and slice down to sides of body 31 times.

  5. Collecting Qi from Earth: Hands out in front, palms down. Spread arms to sides. Shoulder joints are hinges.

  6. Collecting Qi from Heaven: Same as #5, but with palms up.

  7. Wind Blows Lotus Leaves: Like #2, but with palms a fist width apart. Just move arms, not body.

  8. Rotate Heaven/Earth to Left: Make a counterclockwise elongated oval covering shoulders and waist. Palms face each other a fist width apart.

  9. Rotate Heaven/Earth to Right: Same as #8, but clockwise.

  10. Rowing in the Ocean: Hook hands go out and down, return to shoulder height. Come up slightly on toes as arms extend to front.

  11. Turning the Spiritual Wheel: Right palm above left palm in front of chest.
Rotate the right to the front and down while the left rotates back and up in an elongated circle.

  12. Da Mo Rocks the Boat: Hand positions to begin as in #11, but arms move as a unit to left and right with elbows going in an upward arc. Motion is like swinging a pendulum.

  13. Double Winds Block Ears: Palms down by hips with palms facing each other. Elbows slightly bent. Move the palms up in a whipping motion to beside the ears. Then slowly lower the palms back to the starting position.

  14. Golden Light Shines to Eyes: Hands form "duck beaks" in front of hips. Same motion as #13, only the duck beaks go in front of eyes. Open eyes wider as hands come close.

  15. Cross and Swing Arms: Right palm in front of left in front of lower abdomen. Swing out to sides 45 degrees.

  16. Child Worships Buddha: Prayer palms together in front of chest. Eyes gaze at middle fingertips. Do not speak or totally close eyes. Three minutes.

  17. Closing Movement: From hips raise hook hands with outer wrists leading to shoulder height while inhaling through nose. Lower with inner wrists leading while exhaling through mouth and making noise from throat. Do only once.
